Reviews of { the little white trip }

I have this love/hate relationship with you right now

We will start with the hate, I hate you for making me take an extra long lunch break which caused me to get in trouble because I just couldn't put down the book. And in addition, I was reading it before bed the other night, only to have vivid nightmares. I also am sure that all of the other women getting their nails and toes done got a big laugh out of me exclaiming "NO FUCKING WAY!" when I finally got to the end while I was getting my pedicure.

And now for the love:

Your descriptions spoke right to my imagination. You even made death and panic into something eloquent with your use of words. I loved the way you included your notes back and forth in there. I felt as though I was right there listening to him tell you the story to transcribe.

Thank you for writing this book. It was a true pleasure to read it. I can't wait for you to transform another ordinary plot into a magnificent story.

Your book was the best I have read in a long time.
It was crazy, and the ending blew me away something I would have never expected. When I read it, I listened to the album The Ugly Organ by: Cursive and the album went so well with the book it almost seemed like they were made together.

We recently met at Venice beach, and I couldn't wait to read your book. Just finished it and loved it.

Can't wait to read many others.

Ok that book was fabulous. I hope you become filthy, filthy rich or at least widely appreciated for your talent.

I have to agree with everyone on here. I bought the book on Monday, I believe, it was the best read I have had it a while. The only regret you will have after buying this book is that you will wish you would of gotten some more for your friends.

The book was hard to put down. It hooks you from start to finish and the ending will blow your mind. The details to every little event are great and will really keep you interested. You will enjoy this book. I can't wait to read it again.

The Little White Trip=Even Better The 2nd Time

Really I couldn't believe how into it I still got the second time around. Usually it's not like that for me - seeing as how I know the conclusion of it already. But I guess this is just one of those incredible books that I will have in my collection for the rest of my life and never get bored of reading  ...

So thanks for taking all that time out of your life so I could have this book in mine!

You are a twisted man peter! I can't believe you took an age-old story and fused it with modern pop culture. I was totally tricked. I thought I had it all figured out. You are a genius! I'm telling everybody about it. O btw, I'm going to be needed more copies of your book; it needs to be spread around.!

So I just finished reading The Little White Trip by Peter Joseph Gallagher, and I must say that I enjoyed it thoroughly.  It's very well written; the attention to detail kept me hooked until the end.  I finished reading it and just kind of looked at the back cover thinking what the fuck.  I wish I could tell you how it ended, but I won't spoil it because you HAVE to read this book.

I bought your book on the boardwalk the other day, well, the first day I pawned my sale off on that couple from out of town and promised I would come back the next day, which I'm sure you hear a lot, then the people never show. I did come back the second day, though, and am thrilled that I did.

Anyway, WOW! I'll be honest, I didn't have HIGH expectations, although the blurb on the back was interesting enough, but sometimes that's the best part. Not in this case. I read half the book that first day on the beach and loved how you interspersed the e-mails and firsthand accounts of what happened and laced it through the ongoing story line. It heightened the sense of anxiety and expectation, and got me involved in getting to know these characters and what (I didn't know at that point) terrible things were about to happen to them.
Then things came up, I am on vacation after all, and I didn't get to pick it up again until yesterday, and at that point, the story didn't just roll along, it climbed and reached and extended and pushed, it thrilled and captivated and repulsed, my eyes were popping out, I couldn't believe the torment these characters went through, and then, the last twist, a total surprise, and equally disturbing, moving, and unbelievable.

I intend to get back to the beach to buy another copy for a friend of mine, like you said about the guy in Canada, I think it was, one person reads it, and then spreads the word. This viral marketing is, well, contagious, as it should be.

On vacation, I brought Kurt Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle" to read on the beach, but I easily sacrificed that for yours. And Mr. Vonnegut is one of my favorite writers.

I wish you well, and if I can put you in touch with anyone in the literary field, or sing your praises to people I run into in that world, I will certainly do so. And I honestly think you can and should get a grant and some funding to work on your next project as well. You have a wonderful style, your storytelling is intriguing, and the content was entertaining, to say the very least.

Kudos to you, my friend,

So. I hate this book for one reason and one reason only. It took my life hostage for a day. I couldn't bring myself to put it down, and therefore missed all of my classes. thanks a lot.

.. oh. it also rocked my socks off.

Wow, I have got to say, that was one of the best books I have read in a while, I couldn't put it down, I read the whole thing last night. I couldn't believe the ending...and that's a real story? it's just crazy! but anyway I loved it and I am going to tell everyone I know about it!

I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that I enjoyed your book. A friend of mine brought it back for me after her trip to LA and beyond. I have to admit it was the best book that I have read from a new writer in quite some time. You did a phenomenal job and produced an engaging piece of work. Congratulations. I wish you success and I will keep an eye out for more work from you

I finished the book last night - well this morning at 2am, oh my god it's absolutely amazing. I was hooked after the first pages; I just couldn't put it down, what a ride, the twists, the turns, the horror, the ending! ??Well done you deserve high praise for this, it is just so good. I will definitely be spreading the word here in the UK so that more people know about your book. Good Luck with everything, Peter, I hope that the whole world soon catches on and buys your book.

Take care now.

I bought your book a few days ago on the beach and I honestly found it to be the best book I've ever read. I found the character development along with the haunting imagery to be very captivating. I found the ending to be the most interesting as it took the story to a completely different level. I would like to purchase some more of your books as I feel more people should be exposed to your intriguing writing style. So, I was wondering if you are going to be on the beach within the next few days or if I could meet you somewhere to pick up a few more books.

Hey I just wanted to let you know I got my book Thursday and went away to my friend's cottage the same day and I ended up reading it the way up and all Friday and finished it. It was even better then I had expected, and I will wait for another book if your gonna write more just let me know if you have any more coming out I promise I will be one of the first to buy it.

I finished the book last night, and I have to say that I loved it! The characters were so relatable and it made me nostalgic for high school...and so much more!
I had the book out during one of my art classes, and turns out this boy in my class knows you from Curly's...small world, he's gonna borrow the book! : )
anyways, just wanted to let you know how much I liked it, I fell in love with the characters...

I've been meaning to leave a comment about your book but I'm just a huge procrastinator.
lol but now I am here.
I loved your book.
it caught me totally off guard, and that doesn't really happen because I'm one of those read-ahead readers. lol.
It was amazing.
thanx for a good book!

I read your book. It was pretty amazing. A friend of mine lent it to me. It kept me up all night.
thank you for being such a great writer.

.. ps -it has been a very long time since I have ever read a book and thought about it for days after finishing

Dude, I just read your book. My friend James let me borrow it for a couple days.. that shit was CRAZY. A great, memorable story - this is one of the stories that just grabs you and pulls you in, you seriously can't put it down. I hope to see ya' in Venice sometime, I'd get a copy of my own for sure

Your book was amazing. I couldn't stop reading it. It was so addicting. Not to mention the ending it blew me away. I was no where near expecting it. You are truly an amazing author. If you ever release another book, tell me, and I will mostly definitely get it. It was amazing I will tell my friends about your work.

Thanks a lot, this book gave me a joyful experience that only so few things can. I loved it in short haha

peace Matt

Your book is insane... I read the whole thing, start to finish, and I just got it in the mail today. That's a big deal for me... I don't read, at all. The only times I've read entire books was for school. The creativity and imagery involved is just ridiculous.

Great job, 12 dollars well spent.

It's a great book and a trip ALL people should're an amazing writer! ^.^ I can honestly say that I mention your book a shit load...thank you so much for writing the way you's easy to imagine yourself in front row or looking through a window...I was actually scared for a while, a book had never scared me...and damn did I look stupid when I would laugh out loud while reading...especially at bus stops...

anywho...great book and it's a must read!

I just read your book, and I cant believe it......that is the first book I have ever read like the whole thing except when I was in school and they mad you read but still that was out loud to the class and I have never been so into a book that I finish and not only that but I finished in like a day and a half...I was so into the book I almost crashed like 3 times. I couldn't stop reading it even when I was driving but I got it done and I'm about to go start it need to write another book. I love the way you write...I don't have my own copy of the book yet me and my friend, Kim, have been reading the same one but everyone and their mom wants to read the book, so I'm going to come to Venice and buy a few for everyone.....

I just finished your book.. It is definitely one of my favorites ..ever! ?my friend tyler ashbee...the first in Canada to get your book. .. was reading it at the cottage this weekend and lent it to me yesterday, I couldn't put it down! Just thought I'd let you know how amazingly talented you are and that although I've already read the book I am going to order my own copy one of these days, because it's definitely a book I'd want to own! ??

 Just took the trip...

..and I was absolutely enthralled with it!

I've actually been done with the book for a little while, but I didn't know how best to gather my words without rambling on, lol.

Anyway I think the most accurate portrait I can paint about my experience with the book is that I ended up choosing it over sleep and devoured nearly all of it in a single night.

Amazing work, I'll definitely be keeping up with your writing,

Hey! I finished the book a couple of nights ago, and I'm gonna tell ya, that ending blew me away!!! :) Totally wonderful and engrossing! ?

Hey Peter,

I just finished the book! WOW!!! Fantastic!!!! Not the ending that I was expecting... I will be encouraging others to order the book themselves. I'm not sharing my copy, to afraid I wouldn't get it back :) Great job! I'll be looking forward to your next book, please tell me you are working on something...

Hey man,

So I finished the book, and I'm in total shock.

It was written beautifully, and I am jealous of your talents.

I'm speechless - really.

Happy Monday!

I bought your book on Saturday and finished it last night. That speaks for itself. Congrats and thanks:)

I finished the book about a week ago. Sorry I didn't write you before this to tell you how much I enjoyed reading it. It is definitely one of my favorites now, and I'm going to let all my friends read it because I know that they'll appreciate it too. I just passed it off to my best friend, Shanda, to read and she's already way into it. I can't even really explain in words how I feel about this book. I can't believe that that shit went down. But to say the least "AMAZING"

I finished your book! Indeed, it took me 2 days. I think that's the fastest I have ever finished a book. I must say that you have some serious talent. I finished it and then I was like, "I WANT MORE!" I wish you had other books out, too.

One of the best trips I have ever taken. I'm sure to do it again. soon. :)  I loved your writing thru the entire book. You are fabulous. The little white trip is a must read! I found myself even getting creeped out at night and putting it down, needless to say it wasn't out of my hands for long.

Great job on this one, and keep it coming!

Hey there,

I ordered your book a couple weeks ago, and I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed reading it! I read it in about three sittings.... I couldn't put it down. Anyways you should definitely keep writing books; I would be thrilled to read more of you work.??

I just finished your book and sat it down on my desk. I am amazed. I loved it, and have already started to read it again. I am definitely going to tell everyone I can to buy it, it is a wonderful adventure, with a surprise I would have NEVER expected.

Thank you for that,

I got the book and read it all that night. It was really a ride! You got me pretty jumpy by the end. You had some pretty big shoes to fill with me just finishing the latest Steven King, and you definitely had me!

Keep up the great work. I LOVED it!

I finished the book and was freaking out towards the end.....I was standing at my stove cooking dinner for my kids finishing it up....LOL- I could not believe the was crazy!! This is a GREAT BOOK!! T

Great job on the book!!!

I just came down from a crazy little trip. Yes indeed it was a trip................... I was supposed to go to sleep early and get up at sunrise tomorrow to go take some photos. It is now 1:00 a.m., and I just unburied my head from the final pages of your book and was motivated enough by it to log on and write you a message of praise.

Let me just say I am an avid book reader and I believe YOU COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT BETTER....... This book had everything.  There was the very comical come on, the teasing induced anxieties, leading to the frightening, heart racing climax, and coming to a screeching fall back to life.

I'm sure your hearing all of this rambling from everyone, but truly great work. Your book was definitely a 21st century classic novel, and just your first......DAMN.

Unlike most others, I am not a fan of the gory stuff, and I don't think I'd be able to sit through a movie of that caliber gore, but there wouldn't be a need to, because your lucid descriptions supplied my imagination better than a movie ever could.

I received a copy of the book on Monday and finished it on Tuesday night. I gotta tell ya, I didn't see that coming. As far as the characters are concerned - I was overjoyed and blown away by it all. Your book is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Matt and his friend had a crazy ass trip.

Thanks for sharing his story with us all. Since you signed my book, it'll be worth LOTS someday...

Hey wow - I read your book, and it is possibly the greatest book I've ever read. It was amazing, and I couldn't put it down. Who knew that a book I bought while walking in Venice beach would be so great

I just finished!
Fucking brilliant, I love it.
I couldn't put it down.
To be totally honest, I was about halfway through last night and was so spooked by the anticipation that I had to wait until this morning to finish it. Great job.
When is the next one coming out?

take care,

So I'd like to think that I got paid to read your book today. I was life guarding at the pool as usual, and took basically my entire 7 hour shift and read your book. Most involving book I have ever read. I felt like I was right there with everyone...and at one point I was considering stopping reading it, it was almost too intense. Seriously .. a masterpiece my friend. Crazy good. Without exaggeration, your book earned a place on my shelf between tom robbins and dan brown. It was easily as entertaining, possibly more, than both of them.

I got stuck at good year for 3 hours this morning waiting for my car to get an alignment, and luckily, I had your book in the passenger seat, so I read it while I waited, and finished it.

I was nearly going insane toward the end. I have to say one of the best damn books I've ever read, no screw that, THE BEST book I've ever read... I hope you write another I'd image it'd be just as awesome if not better, again, great job, the most entertained I've ever been by a book thus far and it won't be easy to beat.

So I finished the book, and honest to god anybody who is reading this that hasn't picked up a copy are depriving yourself my friend....seriously really really good the whole thing in 5 hours...I couldn't put it down!!!!

I must say - you did an amazing job of painting a mental picture through out the entire book. This is the first book that I have ever read where I didn't even really need to use my imagination to create a visual for the scenery and the characters.

Simply an amazing work of art.

Note to all:

Read the book! Purchase it, and read it, it is incredible.
In the past, only a new Tom Robbins book could keep me intrigued so much that I would not put it down, well, The Little White Trip changed that. I started it in the morning when the mailman dropped it off, took a break and put my swimsuit on, took it with me to Waikiki beach, and finished it up later that night- and I was intrigued the whole time.
Amazing, awesome... etc. read it.

oh, and have a wonderful day!

  1. Book is linear, insipid, and is vapid in nature. . Addresses none of the known universal issues confronting mankind. Disposable exercise for the lazy reader wanting only a story with no intellectual involvement. Author has good grasp of the language but is not in the least literary. On a ten scale, I give it a three, but only because I'm in a good mood.
